Welcome
This blog is an online record of the discoveries, the events & the creative projects of Year 6 library class students.
We began the school year with a survey of our library & information skills to provide us with a way to assess our progress.
As we plan to record the titles & authors of books we have been reading on this blog we will each create an online name & image that will allow us to keep our lists yet remain anonymous to the outside world. For each book that we read, 10c will be donated to War Child.
The first topic for the year was World War I and we are preparing our comments about the role of animals in this war to post.
For Term 2 we have created six teams to join the Quizzard of Oz to extend our knowledge of Australia and develop our information search skills.
During Term 3 we began to create animated PowerPoints based on our favourite books. The books chosen were the most memorable fiction or non fiction works discovered in our life journey so far. We cast our minds back over the previous twelve years in search of the book that made the greatest impression. Books chosen include: Blinky Bill, Chinese Cinderella, Fiona the Pig, The Hardy Boys, Specky Magee, Robinson Crusoe, The Ranger’s Apprentice, Winnie the Pooh, Keys to the Kingdom, Harry Potter, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Alone on a Wide Wide Sea, Devil May Care, Cherub series and the much loved works of Enid Blyton, Eric Carle, Babette Cole, Colin Thiele and Roald Dahl.
The classic story – The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe – by C S Lewis will be the focus of our weekly sessions for Term 4.
